AGE SPOTS

Age spots – also called liver spots and solar lentigines – are flat tan, brown or black spots. They can develop in any size and usually appear on the face, hands, shoulders, and arms, where there is the most sun exposure. Anyone – any age, race, or sex – can develop age spots but they are most common in individuals older than 40 years old with fair skin. All places on the body that are commonly exposed to light are at risk for developing age/ sunspots. Sunlight, the elements, and the natural aging process can all contribute to the development of dark spots and freckles. While most spots and freckles are completely harmless, many patients like to have them removed for cosmetic purposes.

There is a broad spectrum of treatments that Dr. Myers can use on your skin to remove these spots. Topical prescriptions or products can be used on the least severe spots to lighten them. For darker spots, he may use liquid nitrogen to freeze the spot and take away the extra pigmentation. For the most severe spots, one of our providers may recommend laser treatment. This method is quick, easy, and effective.

If you have questions concerning Mole Removal, call our office and schedule an appointment to meet with Dr. Myers. At your visit, Dr. Myers will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan for your condition.
