Varicose and Spider Vein Treatment

Experts say that almost 75% of women have spider veins – red or blue thread-like lines found just under the skin at some point. This condition is often caused by increased pressure in the veins that can crop up for a variety of reasons.

These reasons vary from the normal monthly hormonal cycle for women, to injuries and age and sun exposure. Spider veins often first appear during pregnancy. The condition usually appears after age 30, but it is possible to develop during the teen years.

As opposed to spider veins, varicose veins are enlarged veins that are raised above the surface of the skin. Varicose veins are commonly found on the backs of the calves or on the inside of the leg.

While in most cases, spider veins and varicose veins aren’t likely to lead to serious medical problems, there are very simple procedures that can help treat the condition and restore a more confident and youthful image. Sclerotherapy is a fast an easy way to rid yourself of the unsightly veins. A chemical solution is injected directly into the vein causing it to collapse and disappear.

There are many other treatments for varicose and spider veins and most do not require surgery of any kind and can help your legs regain their alluring appeal. Also, please note, if your varicose veins are red, warm, tender to the touch, achy, or seem to cause circulation problems to the feet, schedule an appointment soon, as these may be signs of more serious problems.
