MATURE SKIN

Aging is a natural and aesthetically pleasing stage of life that brings with it valuable life experiences, cherished memories, and the joy of watching one’s family grow and evolve over time. However, as the years go by, the skin undergoes changes as well. The skin loses collagen and elasticity, resulting in increased fragility. Furthermore, a decrease in the production of hyaluronic acid, a substance that absorbs water in the skin, can cause a thinning and dull appearance. As a result, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and growths such as skin tags and warts, and even skin cancers can develop. In women, menopause can directly impact hormone levels, further altering the quality, texture, and elasticity of the skin.

Although these changes are a natural part of aging, it is possible to stimulate collagen production and increase hyaluronic acid to maintain a youthful, healthy, and radiant appearance. At Utah Valley Dermatology, we specialize in non-invasive cosmetic treatments and customized skincare plans that can slow down and in some cases, reverse the signs of aging. We have experience with patients of all ages, and we understand the unique needs of our more mature patients. We create individualized treatment plans that are both safe and effective based on your specific concerns.

During your consultation, our Board-Certified Dermatologists will discuss your goals, conduct a thorough evaluation of your skin and medical history, and recommend a treatment plan for 6-12 months. Our dermatologists provide direct consultation and treatment, without the intervention of nurses, physician assistants, or physician extenders.

For skin laxity on the face and body, we often recommend skin tightening treatments such as morpheus8, microneedling, Clear&Brilliant. For reducing dark spots and wrinkles, Fraxel is a potent procedure that has been statistically shown to decrease the growth of Seborrheic Keratosis (SKs). Our dermatologists have extensive experience with injectables, including botulinum toxin, soft-tissue fillers like Juvederm and Restylane, and suture-suspension threads. By combining these modalities, we can treat wrinkles, add volume and lift to sagging areas, and stimulate your body’s natural collagen production.

Finally, we recommend that every patient receive a full-body skin exam at least once a year. Patients over 50 often experience a significant increase in benign skin lesions and skin cancers. If there is a suspicious spot, our dermatologists will perform a biopsy to determine the pathology and pursue the necessary treatment. We also have an outpatient Moh’s micrographic surgeon, Dr. David Myers, available to treat skin cancers on the face, ears, neck, and chest.
