IMPETIGO

Impetigo is an infection of the skin that is caused by either the germs staphylococci, streptococci, or a combination of the two. Impetigo is characterized by honey-colored crusty lesions that are typically found around the mouth and nose. Seasonal outbreaks often occur in the spring and fall months; however, outbreaks may occur throughout the year. It mainly affects children and infants. Topical antibiotics have proven to be effective in treating impetigo. In addition, our providers will also recommend some at-home treatment strategies.
